His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, Alafin of Oyo, First Lady of Oyo state, Chief [Mrs] Florence Ajimobi and a businessman Chief Tunde Afolabi [MFR], have been named as eminent Nigerians to be awarded honorary degrees, this year, by the JAjayi Crowther University, Oyo. The honorary degrees will be conferred at the university’s convocation ceremony on the 13th of October, 2017.
The Governing Council of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, has approved the award of honorary Doctorate degree to three eminent Nigerians namely, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, Alafin of Oyo, First Lady of Oyo state, Chief [Mrs] Florence Ajimobi and a businessman Chief Tunde Afolabi [MFR] . The Council took the decision in its meeting held in the campus on Wednesday. The degrees, will be conferred on the honorees on Friday, October 13, 2017, at the 9th convocation of the university.
Chairman of the council, Chief Wole Olanipekun, who commissioned ten new projects on the campus, before the meeting, commended the university management led by the Vice Chancellor, Rt. Rev. Professor Dapo Asaju, for prudent management of funds. He said the university should serve as good example for other public institutions in the management of funds.
Some of the projects commissioned include a new Registry building named after the first Registrar of the institution, Dr. Mrs Josephine Oyebanji, new classroom blocks, Faculty of Education, Language laboratory , extension of the Health centre, Crowther Hall, Faculty of Education building, Water factory, shopping complex and Ajayi Crowther University sports complex.
The Vice- Chancellor said some of the projects were done in readiness for the National University Commission team being expected in the campus while others were to improve the Internally Generated Resources of the institution.
The Pro-Chancellor and chairman of Governing Council said he was happy with the projects and commended the Vice-Chancellor for his visionary leadership of the university.
