Accountancy / Accounting can be studied under the Administration in the following Nigerian Universities;
Subject Combination / JAMB UTME Requirements
In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Accountancy / Accounting under the Faculty of Administration in the above Universities include;
Mathematics, Economics plus any Social Science subject.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS:
(i) AAUA accepts any one (1) of Commerce, Accounting, Government or Geography as the third (3rd) subject.
(ii) AUN requires Mathematics, plus any other subjects from the following: Economics, Geography, Government, History, Literature in English, Biology, Physics, Chemistry and French.
(iii) BSU requires Economics.
(iv) IGBINEDION accepts Commerce In lieu of Economics.
(v) CARITAS requires Mathematics, Economics plus any Social Science or Arts subject.
(vi) EVANGEL accepts Principles of Accounts In lieu of Mathematics
(vii) FED – DUTSINMA requires Mathematics, Economics/Financial Accounting and any other Social and Management Science subject.
(viii) LAGOS accepts Mathematics, Economics, plus one (1) Subject from the following: Financial Accounting, Further Mathematics, Geography, Government, Literature in English and Biology.
(ix) OAU requires Principles of Accounts not Commerce
O’Level Requirements
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Accountancy / Accounting;
You require;Five (5) SSCE credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other two (2) relevant subjects.
For NBC holders, the other two (2) relevant subjects could be from any of Principles of Accounts, Commerce, Office Practice and Secretarial Duties.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS:
(i) (a) AUN does not accept ‘O’ level credit passes in the following; Agriculture, Food and Nutrition, Home Economics, Home Craft, Home Management, Physical Education, Physical and Health Education, Music, Commerce, Accounting, Financial Accounting, Book Keeping, Islamic Studies, History, Religious Studies, Tajweed, Library Studies, Diction, Kiswahili, Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, Arabic, Turkish, Study Skills.
(b) AUN requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, and any other three (3) subjects from the following: Economics, Geography, Government, History, Literature in English, Further Mathematics, Technical Drawing, Visual Arts, Computer Studies, Information Technology, Civics, Environmental Science, Biology, Physics, Chemistry and French.
(ii) BIU accepts credit/merit in English language and Mathematics at TC II as ‘O’ Level equivalent.
(iii) EVANGEL- Economics is not compulsory but accepts any three (3) relevant subjects.
(iv) FED-DUTSINMA requires five (5) ‘O’ level credits passes to include: English Language, Mathematics, Economics/Financial Accounting and any other two (2) subjects.
(v) FED-WUKARI – Same as in Economics.
(vi) UNIJOS in addition to the UTME requirements requires two (2) o’ level credit passes in any of Business Studies, Commerce, Government, Principles of Accounts, Geography and Biology.
(vii) LAGOS requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Economics, Literature in English and any two (2) from Financial Accounting/ Principle of Accounting, Further Mathematics, Geography, Government, Biology, Business Management, Data Processing/Computer Studies and Literature in English.
(viii) UNIPORT does not accept Commercial subjects except Financial Accounting or Business Methods/Management.
(ix) UNIPORT does not accept Office Practice and Secretarial Studies.
(x) PLASU accepts Commerce or Principles of Accounting In lieu of Economics.
(xi) UNN requires five (5) O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics Economics and any other two (2) relevant subjects. For NBC holders, the other two (2) relevant subjects could be from any of Accounting, Principles of Accounts, Commerce, Office Practice and Secretarial Duties.
(xii) UYO requires ‘O’ level credit pass in Economics.
Direct Entry Requirements
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Accountancy / Accounting, if you don’t intend to use UTME.
You require;Two (2) ‘A’ level passes chosen from Economics, Accounting, Business Management, Government and Geography.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS:
(i) ABU accepts (a) NCE with passes at merit level in relevant subjects. B) Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Accounting or Economics and any one (1) other subject. C) Foundation of professional examination such as ICAN, ACCA, ICMA.
(ii) ABSU and DELSU accept holders of the following qualifications: a) Complete pass in the Intermediate ICAN Examination or equivalents; and b) Pass in final exams of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries (except UYO and DELSU) plus UTME requirements.
(iii) ABUJA accepts ‘A’ level pass in Geology.
(iv) ADSU, UNIZIK, ABSU, MADONNA and COOU accept ND/NCE in the relevant fields. UNIZIK and ABSU also accept HND. UNIZIK and COOU accept ND/HND lower credit pass.
(v) AUN same as in Finance
(vi) BSU accepts ND/NCE lower credit/merit plus five (5) ‘O’ level subjects requirements to include Economics at one (1) sitting.
(vii) COOU accepts ND/HND lower credit or equivalent in relevant programmes.
(viii) EBSU accepts a) NCE/ND with passes at Merit/Credit level in relevant programmes. b) AAT, Intermediate ACCA or ICAN or ATS final certificate provided such candidate possesses ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Economics and Mathematics.
(ix) EKSU, DELSU and UYO accept ND/HND in relevant programmes not below upper credit level. (CALABAR accepts HND at lower credit level plus UTME requirements In addition, EKSU insists on ‘A’ level passes in Economics but does not accept IJMB.
(x) ESUTECH accepts ND in relevant programmes within the Faculty into 200 Level in addition to the UTME requirements.
(xi) EVANGEL requires two (2) A’ level passes to include Economics or ND/NCE in addition to the UTME requirements.
(xii) FED-DUTSINMA requires two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Economics/Financial Accounting and Mathematics or any Social and Management Science subject. It also accepts ND/NCE with good grades in Accounting or any related programmes from a recognised institution.
(xiii) IGBINEDION accepts ND at credit Level in related programmes.
(xiv) IMSU and PHC – No Direct Entry. (xv) JOS accepts a) passes at IJMB in at least two (2) subjects one (1) of which must be in Accounting, Economics or Business Management. b) ND upper credit in Financial studies.
(xvi) LAGOS accepts very good passes in three (3) JUPEB subjects: Economics and any two (2) of Financial Accounting, Business Management, Government and Geography.
(xvii) MCPHERSON accepts NCE with passes at merit level in relevant subjects, foundation of professional examinations such as ICAN, ACCA, ICMA or ND upper credit in relevant programmes.
(xviii) NASARAWA accepts ND/HND lower credit in relevant programmes; IJMB in relevant subjects not below ten (10) points; NCE credit/merit in Business Education.
(xix) OAU accepts a) ND upper credit in Accounting, also ICAN/ACCA examination at professional level or ATS (Stage III) examination of ICAN b) Advanced Level passes in Economics, Accounting, Business Management, plus Government and Geography or ICAN/ATS I, II and III.
(xx) PLASU accepts a) degree in any programme provided the candidate meets the ‘O’ level requirements b) HND lower credit in relevant programmes with ‘O’ level requirements. c) ND lower credit in relevant programmes with ‘O’ level requirements. d) IJMB minimum of 7 points with passes in relevant subjects, with ‘O’ level requirement. e) PLASU does not accept University Diplomas and other Diplomas not accredited by the relevant accrediting bodies.
(xxi) RSUST accepts the following qualifications for 200 Level: a) ND upper credit in relevant programme or a Degree/HND not relevant to the programme for admissions to 200 Level; b) A Degree/HND relevant to the programme for admissions to 300 Level.
(xxii) UDU accepts a) ‘O’ level credit in Accounts In lieu of Economics b) ND in relevant programmes not below lower credit c) NCE (Business Education).
(xxiii) UNIZIK does not accept Government or Geography. All Direct Entry candidates must satisfy the UTME requirements.
(xxiv) UNIZIK requires at least two (2) ‘A’ level passes to include Accounting or Economics. UNIZIK and ESUTECH require that Direct Entry applicants possess UTME requirements.
(xxv) UNN accepts in addition to the UTME requirements a) HND/ND/NCE in relevant programmes. b) Complete pass in Intermediate ICAN examination or equivalents. c) Pass in the final exams of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries.
(xxvi) UYO accepts ND/HND lower credit in relevant programmesl. All Direct Entry candidates must satisfy the UTME requirements.
(xxvii) UYO accepts ND/HND in relevant programmes. All Direct Entry candidates must satisfy the UTME requirements.
(xxviii) WELSPRING accepts IJMB, NABTEB A’ level, NCE, ND, HND, at merit/lower credit from recognised institutions, as well as foundation/intermediate passes at ICAN, ACCA and ICMA.
